Levels

Level 1: Complete Beginner

A practical initiation in Spanish for students with no previous knowledge of Spanish. Students will develop fundamental skills which will enable them to communicate at a basic level.

Level 1b: Intermediate-beginner

A course for those who have a previous but limited knowledge of Spanish. It begins with a reminder of the very basics, which are then built upon during the remainder of the course.

Level 2

A course to extend the grammar knowledge in a practical context and expand the vocabulary attained in the Level 1 course. Students will be addressed in Spanish at all times by a native tutor.

Level 3

This course introduces more complex levels of conversation. Technical vocabulary is encouraged to enlarge student's depth of comprehension, interpretation and expression. Students are encouraged to use all the tenses including the present and past subjunctive.

Level 4

This course aims to resolve bad linguistic habits and mistakes students may have developed over the preceding years. The speaking and cultural knowledge are emphasized in order to achieve higher oral precision. At the end of the course the student should be able to use the language in a more complex level of conversation. Students should have a good command of most tenses including the present and past subjunctive.

Level 5

This course is offered to students possessing a good command of grammar and should be able to perform a good communicative level. Students will actively participate in discussions and enlarge their knowledge of Spanish culture and language as well as selecting the appropriate vocabulary and form in different situations and contexts.

Avanzado

A course to perfect and keep up you (almost) bilingual level of Spanish. Discussion and debate over varied topics including current affairs, films and culture in general is emphasized throughout the course. Students will improve their writing skills and conversation fluency at the same time they will be able to change their style of speaking easily and will dominate changes of speed and intonation. At the end of the course students should be confident and familiar with more specific communicative functions of the language and recognize different Spanish and Latin American dialects.
