Why Lorca?
Centro Español Lorca is named in tribute to the extraordinary life and profound contribution to Spanish culture of Federico Garcia Lorca.
This recognises his iconic stature as the greatest Spanish writer of the 20th century, beloved for his extraordinary ability to span high and popular culture, through his lyric poetry, his classic plays about the Spanish rural poor, and his profound writing about Spanish music. A strong supporter of the Republican cause, he is also a legendary figure for the symbolic significance of his death at the heads of Franco’s militia. |
